Industrial milling for chemicals & pigments.

Sealed, inerted, ATEX-rated mill houses for solvent-wet cake and dry powders alike. Pigment colour stability through tightly controlled energy input, cooling-jacketed chambers and class-clean inert blanket gas.

01 / Overview

Sealed by default, ATEX on request.

Process chemistry rarely tolerates atmospheric oxygen at the milling step. Every THOR mill specified for chemicals ships with a sealed feed inlet, sealed product outlet and an N₂-blanket fitting as standard. ATEX zones 20 / 21 / 22 ratings and full ignition-source control are available — quoted with the safety report.

02 / Materials we mill

Materials we run every week.

Pigments (organic and inorganic), resins, polymers, antioxidants, surfactants, agrochemical actives, fertilizer intermediates, herbicides, dyes. We can run a small pilot lot under N₂ blanket if your QA needs the colour or impurity report before you commit to specs.

03 / Heat-sensitive feeds

Heat, oxidation, solvent retention.

Pigment milling lives or dies by the colour-strength reading after grinding. THOR cooling jackets cut chamber temperatures by 30 – 60 °C; jet milling sidesteps the issue entirely (compressed-air expansion is endothermic). For solvent-wet cake or thermolabile actives we'll specify a chilled chamber and an inert envelope.

04 / Recommended platforms

Which mill for chemicals.

Jet Mill for sub-micron pigments and heat-sensitive APIs. Pin Mill for resins and solid actives that need a tight 50 – 200 µm cut. Hammer Mill for high-throughput intermediates and fertilizer prills.

Recommended mills for this sector.
