Pin Mill — fine impact for crystalline solids.
Counter-rotating pin discs running at 160 m/s tip speed shatter brittle feeds into a tight 50–300 µm distribution. Hygienic, modular and compact for clean-down between batches.

What it is.
The Pin Mill is THOR's fine-impact platform: two pin discs, one stationary and one rotating (or both counter-rotating), grind crystalline and brittle feeds by particle-on-pin collision. It is a workhorse for the food and lactose markets where cleanability and tight distributions matter.
How it works.
Feed enters at the disc centre and is flung outward through concentric pin rings. Each ring's tip speed is higher than the last, so each collision is harder than the previous — a controlled cascade that produces a narrow particle-size distribution without classifier hardware.
Specs envelope.
Disc 300 / 500 / 750 mm. Motor 15 – 110 kW. Throughput 0.5 – 8 t/h. Hygienic SS304 / SS316L stainless construction is standard; tungsten-carbide inserts are available for abrasive feeds.
Where it earns its keep.
The Pin Mill is the standard pick when you need a tight micron-range powder out of a friable crystalline feed. Below is the materials list it most often runs.
