Industrial milling for metal powders.

Hardened wear parts, oxygen-controlled mill houses and explosion-relief venting for the most demanding feed in the catalogue. THOR has shipped metal-powder lines for additive manufacturing, MIM and refractory-metal recovery.

01 / Overview

Built for the abrasion, sealed for the dust.

Metal powders combine the worst-case abrasion profile with the worst-case explosion risk. THOR mills for metals ship with WC tip carriers, hardened steel screens, sealed dust enclosures, explosion-relief panels and either inert blanketing or wet-grinding configurations as the safety study requires.

02 / Materials we mill

Materials we run every week.

Aluminium flakes and granules, copper, iron and ferro-alloys, brass, tungsten, molybdenum, refractory-metal recovery streams, recycled solder and alloy chips. Specify the alloy when you ask for a quote — wear-part selection is alloy-dependent.

03 / Explosion safety

Aluminium dust and what we do about it.

Aluminium milling sits at the top of the dust-explosion-hazard pyramid. The standard THOR delivery for Al, Mg or Ti powders includes a Kₛₜ classification by an external lab, an explosion-relief vent or chemical suppression system sized to the chamber volume, and a written commissioning protocol agreed with your safety officer before first run.

04 / Recommended platforms

Which mill for metals.

Hammer Mill for chip and recycled scrap reduction. Ball Mill for fine alloy powders and AM-grade cuts. Air Classifier downstream when you need to fractionate by particle size for an MIM or AM customer.
